ADULT: Wingspan up to 11mm.  A tiny micro-moth best identified by the brown forewings that have a slight reddish hint towards the base.  The apex is lightly sprinkled with white and there is a curved white fascia towards the middle of the wing.  A darker fascia is located nearby.  The hindwings are grey. LARVA: The pale brown larva have a black head and feed internally on the needles of Pine trees. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. HABITAT: Coniferous and mixed woodland and gardens where larval food sources are found. FLIGHT PERIOD: May to July. STATUS: Well-distributed throughout the UK with fewer records in the North and West.
